Put 2 cups of boiling water in a saucepan, add 2 cups of cabbage or caulyflower, 2 tbsp of hot and sour soup paste, 2 tbsp of tamarind paste and/or lemon juice to your taste, let simmer for 10 minutes.
Add 1 cup of shrimps or sliced chicken breast, simmer until shrimps or chicken is cooked. If you like it more satiable, add some cooked rice or noodles.
Hot and sour soup paste
10 dried chillies, seeded and soaked
1 ½ tablespoon chopped shallots
1 tablespoon shrimp paste
1 teaspoon salt
Grind the chillies with the rest of the ingredients to a smooth paste.
You can store the paste easily for at least two weeks in the fridge.
Hope this is not too essential as I'm just starting to discover Thai cuisine...... enjoy your meal!!!
Cheers from Hamburg, Germany
